Did you know that Terre Haute has a huge number of parks? Most of which, are in walking distance or only a short drive from Highland! This month we will take a look at the Top 3 parks in Terre Haute and what each on has to offer.
Fairbanks park is located right next to the Wabash River. It features boat docks, fishing spots, a dog park, kids playground, and multiple trails and pavilions. This is also where the Banks of the Wabash festival is held each year. Within the park you will also find a YMCA and amphitheater. There are always events happening here so make sure to keep an eye out!
Deming park has the largest kid play area in town. Some other features include two fishing lakes, a disc golf course, and the town pool. There is also a concession stand and train you can ride for only a $1.50! There are also nicely wooded areas for hanging hammocks and there are also basketball courts and baseball fields tucked away in the back.
Dobbs is a great place if you like to fish. They offer many fishing docks, trails, and pavilions. They also stock the pond twice during the summer. This is also where the Terre Haute Nature Center is located. Here they provide education classes on wildlife and plant life. They also have a nature viewing area where local animals can be safely watched while eating!
